Chalfont St Peter is steeped in history and one of the very best ways to appreciate this 1066 Doomsday Book village of Chalfont St Peter (once known as Celfunde) is to walk the historic Chalfont St Peter Heritage Walk.
The Heritage Walk was established by The Celfunde Inheritance, a local history and volunteer group, in association with Chalfont St Peter Parish Council to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
On the trail you will find 49 heritage plaques around the village each showing an historic photo and giving an interesting historical fact about the village.
The whole longer walk could take up to 4 (four) hours, the shorter walk takes about 1 (one) hour.
After completing the walk It is worth allowing some time exploring the shops and excellent facilities in the village centre.
Pop into the village community library in the High Street or to Parish Council Office in Gravel Hill for details and the relevant leaflet to get you started.
Feedback from people that have completed the walk has been fantastic.
This link will provide you with a 2 x A4 page step by step guide to the route plus 2 x A4 maps.
